Albert Whitted Airport is a gem of the beautiful and unique downtown waterfront experience of St. Petersburg, Florida. With 100,000 flights each year, it is integral to St. Pete’s tourism and economy, but it’s so much more than an airport. AWA enables Discovery, Opportunity, Safety, Mobility, and Preservation for everyone in the St. Petersburg community.

Seeing a child take their first flight; helping an astronaut build a simulated comet; or using an infrared telescope are regular occurrences at Albert Whitted Airport; and these are just the kind of activities that ignite their passion for discovery and helps them gain the confidence to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and aviation.

Friends of Albert Whitted Airport kicked off their inaugural round of flight scholarships with an uplifting award ceremony held at Sheltair Aviation on Saturday, April 1st, honoring the 19 St. Pete area young people (ages 16-24) who were awarded aviation scholarships.
