Friends of Albert Whitted Airport is a group of community leaders and aviation enthusiasts whose mission is to connect the St. Petersburg community to the past, present, and future of Albert Whitted Airport (AWA).
Our work creates opportunities to experience, understand, and celebrate the many unique contributions of AWA and the countless benefits it brings to our community.
We organize events and activities for children and young adults to discover and experience aviation, as well as fund flight school scholarships – with a focus on ensuring AWA is available to under-represented communities, fostering inclusivity and diversity in the world of flight.
We advocate for and support the organizations at Albert Whitted that dedicate themselves to the safety, security, rescue, and recovery of the St. Pete community and beyond.
As champions of aeronautics innovation, we support the development of cutting-edge technologies that are driving the future of aviation. We recognize AWA’s ongoing impact as a vital transportation hub to Tampa Bay, connecting people and enabling the growth of our region.
We actively support the preservation of our downtown waterfront, protecting our local environment and ecosystem, and cherishing the rich history of Albert Whitted Airport.

- Create opportunities for children and young adults to discover and experience aviation, as well as start their pilot careers – with a focus on ensuring Albert Whitted Airport is available to under-represented communities.
